For information the SS refers only to the lever, the actual internal mechanism can be either the A increase engine speed for gear change or the B no increase in engine speed until after gear change. Last week I saw where the dealer had installed a flush mounted meter on the rear of the console facing the drivers knees. If mounted under the engine cowling, it would seldom be seen. In the console is not as bad.
