Reviews at a Glance. Customer Reviews. I'm a cat lover so would not have minded though. Once again another excellent Dark Tales game. Scenes, music and mood is creepy and so is the mansion. I didn't mind getting my clues from the strategy guide when I got stuck instead of just hitting the hint button all the time. Another must-have game that can be replayed over the years with the Premature Burial.

The artwork fits and the gloomy atmosphere is well-suited for the plot. I cant complain. Its simple but beautiful in its simplicity. The Poe series never disappoints. This time, the adventure takes you to a contraption-filled mansion that was once home to an illusionist, and currently belongs to a man named Mark Davies. Monsieur Davies' wife Sarah is missing, and he hires the pair of you to solve the disappearance. But all is not as it seems, because a mysterious black cat keeps appearing Lots of genuinely scary moments in here, but all in good fun.
I loved the mansion where the game takes place. The music enhances the atmosphere without being overwhelming, and the bonus chapter makes everything that much more deliciously creepy as you learn what caused everything to go horribly wrong. Great job, ERS! Click the orange tile, 3 times and click the green tile once.
This will solve the Blue tiles to rotate the perimeter tiles clockwise, or right click to rotate them counter-clockwise 3 so you end up with them arranged 4 according to the diagram. Collect the Window Handle 5. The key to solving this puzzle is to do one color at time. This puzzle begins the same way, each time, so the logical choices would be to complete the Blue section, then the Orange and then work on the Red and Green together. You can rotate the tiles clockwise click or counter-clockwise right click , which makes solving a lot easier than the in-game instructions click to rotate clockwise, only indicate.

Click on the Table 1 , collect the Cup 2 , use the Cup on the Fountain 3 and click right to the Gazebo 4 and continue back to the Folly click right once.
Use the Sack purple on the Sandbox 1 , return to the Fountain click back twice , use the Sack of Sand on the Fountain, return to the Folly click right twice , click on the Door 2 , use the Wet Sack of Sand on the Swing, collect the Stick, Organ Handle and Pliers and then return to the Gazebo click back once.
Click on the Organ 1 , use the Cup of Water green on the Table 2. Fill each of the containers with water, up to the red line 3. Note the marks scratched into the wood next to each container. They hold 4, 6 and 5 units of water and you must fill them to 2, 3 and 4 units, respectively.
Fill 1, empty part of 1 into 3, empty the rest of 1 into 2 and empty 3 into the Cup of Water. Do this 3 times. Click on the upper left to enter the Hall 1 and click on the right Door 2. Use the Newspaper green on the Floor, click on it to move it under the door, use the Paper Clip red in the Lock 3 , click on the Newspaper, collect the Key 4 and then click on the Dresser 5. Click on the Painting white on the Wall may contain items and collect all the items. Inventory Item: Plate green.
Click on the Drapes 1 and click on the Window. Use the Pliers green on the Hanger 2 , twice. Return to the Formal Parlor click back once, left twice. Click on the Fireplace, use the Plate green in the Fire, return upstairs click back twice, upper left once and click on the Dresser again.
Click on the Door 1 at the end of the hall. Click on each of the dials to rotate them to match the code from the plate 2. Clicking will rotate them down and right clicking will rotate them up. From the top, clockwise, click twice green , right click twice red , no click yellow , right click once blue and click once purple.
Once solved 3 , click forward to enter the Library. Click on the Globe 1 and use the Screwdriver green in the Hole 2 — this can be tricky; position the tip of the Screwdriver, not the Hand cursor, directly over the Hole. Collect the Pen yellow and use the Screwdriver on each of the 3 screws 3 — again, this can be tricky; hold the tip of the Screwdriver over each screw and click to remove the Cover 4.
Click on the Desk 5 and collect the Candle 6. Return to the Formal Parlor click back twice, left twice. Click on the Chair 1 , collect the Skeleton 2 , click on the Fireplace 3 and use the Candle green in the Fire. Return to the Library click back twice, upper left once, forward once. Click where the Beam of Light hits the Bookshelves 4.
Click on the Hints green book for clues to arrange the books in the correct order the same order as the clues. There are several correct solutions; they just need to be in the correct order. Click on a book, drag it to a new location and release your mouse button to place it. The clues and correct titles are:.
Open both Upper Doors and the top left Drawer white in the Dresser may contain items and collect all the items. Inventory Item: Incense Sticks green. Click on the Desk 1 and use the Pen green in the Pen Holder 2. Collect the Horse purple , Lamp red and Bent Gear yellow and then return to the Bedroom click back twice. Click on the Desk Lid 1 and click on the Compartment 2. To solve the puzzle, you must remove all but one flower by jumping over other flowers to eliminate them 3.
Click on a flower, drag it to the next empty peg hole and click to place it. You can only move diagonally and horizontally and you must jump over another Flower. There may be other solutions; this one took 9 moves 4. Return to the Office click back once, forward once, right once , click on the Fireplace 1 , use the Lamp green in the Fireplace 2 , pull the Lever and click forward to enter the Main Cellar. Click on the Middle Door 1 and enter the Workshop. Click on the Drawer white in the desk may contain items and collect all the items.
Inventory Item: Crowbar green. Return to the Main Cellar click back once. Collect the Vinegar yellow , click underneath the Sink 1 , collect the Fretsaw red , use the Wrench green on the Nut and collect the Valve Handle 2 -purple.
Click on the Table 3 , use the Fretsaw on the table, click on each of the Wing Nuts green and use the Leather Piece yellow on the Blade 4. Click on the Shawl white to move it may contain items and collect all the items.
Inventory Item: Wax Statue green. Click on the Mechanism 1 , use the Chemical Plate green in the empty space. To solve 3 , click on the buttons as follows: c, d, b and a, for the Vinegar 3 and then b and c for the Chalk 4.
Use the Chalk on the Mortar and then use the Pestle red on the Chalk 2. Click on the Stopper yellow use the Powdered Chalk 3 and then use the Vinegar green on the Bottle use it directly on the bottle, not on the neck of the bottle and click on the Stopper. The chemical reaction will create H2O water in the bottle and send CO2 Carbon Dioxide through the tube and raise the Key; click on the Key 4 and then return to the Workshop click back once, right corner once.
Return to the Office click back twice. Switch the positions of the lenses until you match the configuration shown in the diagram 3. The starting configuration, of the second, third and fourth lenses, is always different; it should only take a couple moves to solve the puzzle. The Charcoal Sticks are on the lower left side of the ground. Place the Paper on the stone; then place the Charcoal Sticks on there as well.
The Charcoal Sticks will automatically trace the Flower Icon on the paper. Open Book Icon — Click on the stone that is on the right side of the scene and you will get a closer view. Click on the left side of the screen to exit to the next location. Garden Shears The Raven is in the top center of the scene. The Garden Shears are in the center of the scene. Please look at the screenshot for the areas that you need to click on.
Once you get a closer view of each area, place the Paper on the stone followed by the Charcoal Sticks. Once each icon has been drawn, the closer view will close up.
Find the next area and follow the same steps as above. Anchor Icon Skull Icon Exit the area on the left side of the scene, once all the items have been found. Crypt Door Puzzle Click on the door to get a closer view.
Your goal in this puzzle is to arrange the icons on the door according to the diagram on the left side of the page. Click on each icon on the door until you can match up the diagrams on the page.
The game will automatically lock the piece in when the right one has been chosen. The solution from top to bottom is:Left side of the door: Book, Flower, Skull, Angel Right side of the door: Butterfly, Hand, Hourglass, Anchor Once the right combination has been entered, the door will open. Go through the door. The Corkscrew is in the top left side of the scene. The Hand Rake is on the right side of the gravestone that is in the center of the scene. Click on the Newspaper after the leaves have been cleared.
Face Etching — Place the Sponge on the gravestone that is in the lower left side of the scene. Click on the Face Etching after the gravestone has been cleaned. The Wire Cutters are on the top right side of the scene. Blue item — Wire Piece Place the Wire Cutters on the wire spool that is on the top right side of the scene. The Wire will automatically go into inventory. Place the Stone Raven on top of the gravestone. Place the Stone Raven on the lower right side of the tombstone.
The top part of the gravestone will move to the side. Grab the scroll that appears on top of the gravestone. Once you click on it, the map will appear on top of the page; click on it again, and it will go into inventory. Place the Corskscrew on the bottle, and it will open the bottle. Put the scroll in the bottle, and the scroll will come out of the bottle with a map. Click on the map that appears on the page, and it will go into inventory.
You will be taken back to the cemetery; click on the glowing exit door in the back of the scene. Weight Grab the Weight that is in the top left side of the scene. Blue Item — Family Crest Use the Weight on the lever that is in the center of the back wall, and the Family Crest will come down from the ceiling. Click on the Family Crest, and it will be taken off your list. Examine the Skeleton Click on the Skeleton that is on the left side of the scene and you will be taken to a new scene.
The Raven is in the top right side of the scene. Cask — The Cask is on the lower right side of the scene. As soon as you click on it, a puzzle will appear in which you need to find some hidden keys. Key Puzzle The map that appears on top of the page shows you how to find the hidden keys. The blue tile on the floor shows you where you need to start.
Follow the spots in the order and the direction that are shown on the map. If you see a ghost appear on the screen it means that you clicked on the wrong spot.
If that happens, just click on a different spot. Please look at the next set of instructions to see the solutions for all four Keys. Fortunato Key Place the Hammer on the door on the right, and the Hammer will break down the door. Click on the Fortunato Key that the Skeleton is holding.
The Skeleton will fall apart, and you will be taken to the Secret Room in the back of the scene. The Roller Dolly is on the floor, close to the fireplace. The Raven is on the top left side of the fireplace. Once the monkey gets up, click on the Straight Jacket that is inside the crate.
Book — Place the Chimney Brush in the fireplace and a book will fall into the fireplace. Click on the book to take it off the list. Trunk — Place the Roller Dolly on the Trunk that is in the lower right side of the scene.
Click on the Trunk once it moves into plain sight. Open the Trunk Your goal in this puzzle is to open the lock with the keys provided in the scene. Just match the symbols on the key with the symbols on the locks. The last lock goes on the lock that is on top. Please look at the screenshot for the solution. You will be taken to a scene in which they ask you to pick a scene. This guide proceeds to the scene on the first picture.
Click on them and read their statements. The Scissors are in the top right side of the scene. The Gold Coin is on the lower right side of the ground. Click on the Diamond Ring once it falls out of the bubble gum machine onto the street. Click on the hat, once the box is open.
Location 2 Click on a location on the map to travel there. This walkthrough continues to the second location. Click on the people in the scene to talk to them. Click on a location on the map to travel there. This walkthrough continues to the third location. Location 3 - Key The Raven is on the top center of the scene, on the chandelier.
The Key is on the top right side of the scene; it is on the side of the picture frame. Pick up the Sailing Ship that appears inside the drawer. Location 4 Click on a location on the map to travel there. This walkthrough continues to the fourth location. Click on all the people in the scene so you can talk to them. The Corn Kernels are in the lower right side of the scene, on the ground. The Fishing Pole is in the top left side of the scene; it is between the trees and the building.
Click on the right side of the scene and you will be taken to a closer view of the fishing net. Fishing Net The Raven is on the left side of the scene, below the first fish on the line. There are no other inventory items to pick up at this time. Click on the Rudder that appears in the air to take it off the list. Necklace - Place the Corn Kernels in the birdhouse that is in the top left side of the scene. Pick up the necklace that falls on the table below the birdhouse.
Get Everyone Across the River The goal in this game is to take the people across the river by using the following four rules. You can only carry a maximum of three people on the boat at one time.
The Boatman has to be on the ferry when it is picking up or dropping people off. The Boys cannot be left alone; they have to be with an adult at all times. The Sailors have to be accompanied by the Guard of Dupin, or by the Policeman. In order to know who the people are in the scene, you can hover your mouse over them and read a description of who they are. You can also look at the color of their outline to know who they are:The Boatman has a gray outline.
The Boys are in yellow. The Sailors are in red. The Policeman is in blue.
