Let me restate my question. The issue is not with not having KB installed. The issue is that the system cannot detect KB which should have been previously installed, thus preventing me from uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

At the same time, an attempt to install KB ends up with failure, because installer states it has already been installed. Attempt to install KB from the file downloaded from Microsoft web site i. KB can be a part of cumulative update KB All attempts to locate this update in the list of installed updates failed as well.

In the meantime I found a work around my primary problem. It turned out that that Studio 7 has an installation option allowing for treating not found updated as warning rather than errors. Using this option allowed me to proceed with installation process and finish it. That said, I would really want to find out what's going on with KB, and whether it really was installed or not.
